Rhombic Corporation has Achieved an IndustryMilestone in the
Purification of Silicon Carbide Wafers

January 31, 2000 03:03 AM
VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rhombic Corporation NUKE is pleased
to confirm that the company has achieved its January 2000 target to cleanse its Silicon
Carbide (SiC) wafers of impurities by 50%.

According to Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS) purification reports, Rhombic has
achieved this reduction of impurities and natural contaminates by a factor of 2 (50%) in
Silicon Carbide wafers. The project is well on its way to achieving an even higher reduction of
Silicon Carbide wafer contaminates which will bring it to commercial grade for production and
marketing.

Rhombic's research and marketing objective is to penetrate the existing $7 billion silicon
wafer and electronics market with a purified wafer line. These enhanced wafers will have a
longer lifespan and be more effective than present wafer technology.

The company's "Forced Diffusion" process is used to add to or to take out impurities from
diamond, silicon carbide, gallium nitride, and other special materials to modify the optical,
chemical electrical and mechanical properties of those materials and is used for all
wide-band gap semiconductor materials.

According to the 1999 Semiconductor and Wafer Industry Report what is needed most in the
industry are wafers of larger size and purity. Semiconductor wafers and substrates form the
basis of an $800 billion worldwide electronics industry. Semiconductors have given rise to a
proliferation of new products for information based economies.

This key technology driver accounts for 30% of the economic growth in the US. slow. The
report also states that Silicon Carbide continues to contribute in a major way to high
temperature, high power electronics.

actual results may be materially different. Factors that could cause actual results to differ
include activity levels in the securities markets and other risk factors. "From the Safe Harbor
