LAN-Based Telephony Cos. Form Partnerships (01/13/00, 10:55 a.m. ET) By Stephanie Green, Computer Reseller News Two manufacturers of LAN-based telephony systems on Wednesday revealed expanded relationships that bring their products to a wider audience.
Artisoft, Cambridge, Mass., signed a contract with Parsippany, N.J.-based Dialogic, a division of Intel, to deliver a jointly developed software-based phone system.
Meanwhile, AltiGen Communications, Fremont, Calif., unveiled a partnership with Italian hardware manufacturer Flextel to combine AltiGen's telephony switch with Flextel's networking systems.
AltiGen and Flextel will combine AltiGen's AltiServ, a Windows NT-based PBX, with Flextel's FTL800/1200 all-in-one platforms. The combination is slated to ship in the second quarter of this year.
Artisoft will port software PBX TeleVantage to Intel's CT Media open software platform, under terms of an agreement unveiled last November.
Artisoft's TeleVantage 3.0, which began shipping in December, runs on Windows NT and uses off-the-shelf computer, wiring, and telephony hardware. CT Media is a standards-based software platform for telecommunications servers.
The Artisoft/Intel product is scheduled to ship during the summer, the vendors said. Pricing was not available.
