Mon 31 Jan 2000 News Release
Mr. Randy Jackson reports
The company has signed multiplatinum selling artist Tiffany, the former
teen sensation to the Modern Records label. The contract with Tiffany
includes four new albums and an additional greatest hits album. Tiffany
remains a major recording artist in the music industry with estimated sales
of 14 million records. The recording of Tiffany's next album is well
advanced and the first single is scheduled for release in May, 2000.
Tiffany Renee Darwisch, better known as Tiffany, began her career in the
late 1980s as a teenage dance-pop singer. Born and raised in Norwalk,
Calif., the former teen idol became a household name following her 1987
mall tour, titled "The Beautiful You: Celebrating The Good Life Shopping
Mall Tour '87." Immediately following her tour, her self-titled album,
Tiffany, which later debuted on the Billboard album charts at the No. 1
spot, went quadruple-platinum. The first single from the album, "I Think
We're Alone Now," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard single chart and the
second single "Could've Been" coincidentally displayed Michael Jackson's
"Bad" from the No. 1 spot on the Billboard singles chart. After spending
some time raising her family, Tiffany recently announced during an
interview with Access Hollywood that she wanted to make a new album. In
1999, she performed the vocals on the song "New Year's Day," with the group
Front Line Assembly, on the tribute album to U2, We Will Follow.
Tiffany stated: "I am ecstatic to be a part of Modern Records and I am
looking forward to a great future and hope to accomplish a lot of my goals
as a songwriter, artist and performer. I believe that Modern Records will
help me accomplish all my goals and take it even higher."
Russ Regan stated, "After meeting Tiffany and hearing her new songs, I am
very excited and thrilled that she is signing with Modern Records."
Randy Jackson stated, "Tiffany's new sound is incredible. She knows what it
takes to make a hit album and because her fan base who grew up with her is
still there makes it even better."
