This is a situation in which a public company sold its interests for $X plus y% of the "free cash flow". I am not talking about the control of the company. I'm just wondering how to assess the value of that y% interest.

It seems to me that it is better than a y% participating interest because it has all the benefits but none of the risks of participation.

Have I got the right idea of "free cash flow"
