Xilinx is real good buy at the $44+/- level. It competes with Altera much like AMD competes with Intel.

However, Altera and XILINX have the nasty habit of preferring to make GOOD PROFITS - so they beat each other up less than AMD beats up on Intel - since AMD has no compunction against absorbing massive losses in an attempt to inflict damage (usually insignificant) on Intel.

However, all three will do extremely well when demand exceeds supplies.

As soon as Supply exceeds demand, look for one of the three to plummet fastest - and that would be AMD.
