I don't think stocks are a bargain generally in this environment for a number of reasons (age of the bull market, valuations, current trend in interest rates, and especially the rampant growth in credit that has occured in the last 2 - 3 years)

-- MSFTs growth is tied to the current economic expansion which is on a very shaky footing, IMHO.

Furthermore, it's earnings as are the earnings of many companies overstated in that these do not properly reflect the compensation required to keep the talent that they have -- i.e. the way option grants are counted. This method of comp -- further depends on an increasing share price.

Do you consider the possible risk/reward of holding MSFT at this point in comparison to something that yields a fixed amount of income? What basis do you use in deciding whether or not to invest or stay invested?
