SOI and Intel.

OK. Ignored is not the right word but Intel is not going to use SOI for it's processors anytime soon. Mark T. Bohr, director of process architecture and integration at Intel had a slide presentation at the Symposium on VLSI Technology at Kyoto, Japan last year with arguments why Intel was not going to use SOI. The reasons are partly technical and partly production wise like: Intel would be reluctant to move to a technology that could cause a yield loss as low as two to three percent.

Hans.
