Well, the auto and PC are competely different. You can drive your 1990's Honda well on today's highway, no problem at all. For PC, as the CPU getting faster and faster, and memory requirement getting larger and larger, you 10 years old PC from 1990 may not be able to run most of today's sfoware program , so you need to continue upgrade. Pretty soon when the stream video compression technology comes to play , i.e video on demand, real time video broadcast through the internet, you will need more powerful PCs, and this will keep people upgrade their pcs. Besides, you will see more and more application on PCs come to play in the near future, and all these need powerful and modern PCs.
