<<Whoa, where to start. First, EMC is STORAGE, not PC centric anything. Next, storage revenue is growing faster, <<percentage wise, than is server revenue. More pertinent to this thread, EMC is growing faster than Sun.
1. Did not mean to say EMC is a PC-centric company; they are not. The point I meant to get across was that EMC's growth was stellar such as the PC-centric companies and that it is very difficult to sustain such a rapid expansion (i.e., IBM, DELL, CPQ, ORCL) There were some minor holes in their last quarterly report. The integration of the company they recently purchased is purported to have some negative impact on their business.
Also, SUNW is has a controlled sustained growth strategy. They will not expand beyond their internal support structure. Much like controlling the U.S. economy. <g> Having tremendous growth is hard to sustain. I am not saying that EMC is a bad co., they are the best at what they do, storage. But they dominate their segment so it is difficult for them to take market share away from another company. They should grow pretty much at the growth rate of the internet. That is without anyone taking market share away from them.
<<They are no longer an industry leader in technology>>
I was not referring to EMC in this statement.
<<Why else would anyone want to deal with MSFT at this time. >>
I stand by this statement. Oh yeah, they have about 20 billion in cash.
<<So Microsoft is dead meat and not an important company any more?>>
1. Name one product category that MSFT dominates for internet. MSN=no;AOL, Operating system=no;unix, solaris, linux, b2b=no; ORCL, ARBA, CMRC, VERT and on and on and on, and finally b2c=no; AMZN, EBAY, Trevelocity and on and on and on.
<<I thought I was bad as an Intel bigot. After reading you, I've just decided I'm not even a bigot.>>
Funny, I do not consider myself a bigot. I like everyone. Even held some MSFT for some time. Just calling it the way I see it.
All, IMO, Bob. |
