I am a bit surprised that you have been to Guilin, but not Xian. Xian is the oldest city in China. It was the capitol of many dynasties. It's know for the ceramic soldiers and horses that are found next to Ching Shi Huan's tomb. Ching Shi Huan wave the 1st emperor in China.

Yes, Guilin is known for its natural beauties. But I left China was I was a kid, and didn't get a chance to go there. If you were taking a direct flight, Guilin isn't too far from Xian. Because of the mountain ranges between the two, they have been traditionally considered as "very far" apart.
