I don't think you can get DNA from blood, can you? That was supposedly an error with Jurassic Park, they wouldn't have been able to get any DNA out of the mosquito because it only had blood in its gut. At least that's what I read somewhere.

I can't say that I've spent all that much time on the shroud-- I don't think I'd ever heard of it until a couple of years ago. Catholic relics are not a big item of study among Protestants, there's a tendency to figure that all of it is just the sort of superstitious nonsense that prompted the Reformation. Whatever the shroud is, it's a good deal more intriguing than some pork rind reputed to be the True Foreskin.
