I think the paper that Coby cited and the opinion of the Catholic Encyclopedia were both that there is no blood on the shroud ~ simply pigment.

It does seem, irrelevant to a belief in/appreciation of Christ.

Relics give me the willies, as for what are they necessary? Why should they be pertinent?
