Here's a "review" from a friend in Atlanta:
"Howard, I had an investor contact me about Tanners over a year ago. I had never heard of them at the time and checked the phone book. At the time, I believe there were 6 restaurants. None close by, but to check the place out, we went there as a family and had dinner. It was a small place, rustic interior. Which is fine as it's a barbeque type place, no frills. There was no beer on tap, they had a large glass cooler with long necks displayed nicely, so they had a liquor license. There were several tv's being projected from the ceiling with Sunday afternoon football on. They had a smoking and nonsmoking section. As a nonsmoker I really really liked the fact that the smokers section was a separate room, completely walled and glassed off. Not even an open doorway between the two, they were separated by a glass door.
The menu is not extensive but the food was really really good and they did have a children's menu. The food was all homemade, even the maccaroni and cheese. Since I first went out on this scouting mission for another poster, I have since seen that they opened up a restaurant closer by. It opened late summer/early fall I think. About a 12 minute drive vs the 45 minute to get to this other place. The one near by, again, is located in a stip type mall structure with other small businesses. And this one is IMO in a much better location. I say this as it's in front of a LARGE movie theatre area and brand new LARGE apartment (pricey) complex. There's a few other restaurants, Chili's for one nearby but not a lot of competition. So, I would expect that this particular one whould do very well. The one we ate at was in a more difficult area to get to, not easy access and the little stip is almost hidden unless you know exactly where it is. However, on the upside, it's located in an area of business offices and there wasn't much competition around that we saw. So, my guess is it does a bustling lunch service.
Now, the biggie, would I return. YES. The time's that we've gone to the movie's at this theatre and we pass by the restaurant, I think that it would be nice to have dinner there but the time's have been off so we haven't. " |
