Eric - As a Q investor I am interested most in the standardized release of IMT-MC (cdma2000) Multi Carrier. This will not be in commercial operation much if any quicker than standards based "WCDMA".

There are several questions here:

1) Will IMT-MC be allowed to roll out before IMT-DS, or will all the bickering in W-CDMA land hold up IMT-MC?

2) Does the answer to question 1 matter, or is it true that even though IMT-MC is not formally approved there is essentially no chance of it being significantly different than CDMA-2000 as now spec'd. Thus CDMA-2000 rolls out next year and has its name changed to IMT-MC whenever W-CDMA gets their act together?

Technically and in internal politics CDMA-2000 is much more mature. The only real question is what kind of impact W-CDMA politics have on CDMA-2000. My suspicion is not much - certainly Qualcomm is moving ahead with chip design and roll outs as if it mattered not a hoot. Thus, although "IMT-MC" and "IMT-DS" might technically roll out together, for all practical purposes CDMA-2000 will roll out years ahead of W-CDMA.
