As for Chandler making the difference, I completely beg to differ. Very different styles of receivers and games, first of all...

What in God's name are you talking about? Atlanta under Dan Reeves tries to run the ball as much as anyone in the NFL. I don't even know what a "different style receiver" is.

McNair CAN throw a deep ball, it's just not part of their game plan.

That statement is nothing short of inane. I'm just going to let it stand in its own glory.

Also, Chandler had one good year and a bunch of mediocre years

Well, he's averaged a 90 QB rating, a mark of excellence, for 6 seasons now. In watching Chandler at Tennessee and Atlanta, I've always found him to be better than his numbers. Indeed, NFL insiders do too. In fact, if you look at more esoteric stats, like red zone and 3rd down rating, and Chandler leads the NFL in those categories almost every year.

(I saw him for a while as the Cards qb)...

That year in Phoenix was the first year after he went to John Brodie's QB camp and started to learn how to really play QB. Perhaps Phoenix didn't want him to throw good passes, like Tennessee with McNair. <g>

I would never want to place the Super Bowl squarely on his shoulders.

I would, every day of the week.
