POLL-Vodafone tipped to win Mannesmann LONDON, Feb 1 (Reuters) - Vodafone AirTouch Plc has an average 66 percent chance of winning its record hostile bid for Germany's Mannesmann AG with the bid currently on the table, according to a poll of European fund managers and analysts conducted by Reuters on Tuesday. But with six days to go before the bid closes, speculation is also mounting that sweetened terms could be offered in return for a recommendation of the 162 billion euro ($158.2 billion) bid by Mannesmann's management. Fund managers and analysts believe there is a 52 percent average perceived chance of Vodafone improving the terms of its offer and securing an agreed deal.
