Well, Nixon deserves respect for one thing, by embracing Keynesian economics, as it had become known - "We're all Keynesians now" - and imposing wage and price controls, a signature of a command economy, he effectively depleted leftist economics of whatever intellectual capital it still possessed and deprived it of any vestigial legitimacy.

What a bold stroke. And what leadership.
