Thanks, Jochen. Today I received the weekly newsletter from RateXchange. In it they are now posting rates for hauling by the packet as well as their usual bulk bandwidth rates. I suspect that they are still treating this approach in an experimental way.

See:

------

MARKET SUMMARY

The bandwidth market continues to move in different
directions depending on region. International routes remain
flat. The transcontinental routes dropped slightly with NY-LA
DS3 moving to $31,500/mo (a 1.5% decline) while the NY-LA OC3
dropped nearly 7% to $85,000/mo. The only route that saw a
healthy gain was the NY-Seattle OC3, which rose 3% to
$92,500/mo.

This weeks hot bandwidth offers show that new technology is
enabling more business models. Some businesses are now
packaging products based on packets rather than bandwidth.
Will this take hold as a new way of charging for access? Time
will tell.
