Tranmeta would be up gainst the UK outfit Arm holdings (ARMHY), which
has a huge chunk of the wireless market (90% of the current generation of digital handsets).

Off the top of my head, I can't see a reason for the big players (NOK ERICY QCOM CNXT SEIMENS VLSI LSI INTC etc) to change.

Reasons NOT to change are compelling too
e.g.
Tool investment (ASIC design, Software design)
Legacy designs
Legacy software
