Greg,

Yes and no. Two years ago,I had a cochlear implant. I carry a small computer in my shirt pocket which is fastened to a mic and transmitter. The transmitter fastens to the side of the head with a magnet. The metal receiver in the head has 20 frequency electrodes which end in the cochlea. It works good for voice in a quiet background situation and I can also hear the song of the meadow lark and other birds. Most radio and tv are not of sufficient fidelity to understand.
One of the wonders of the world: to hear a bird sing after years of no sound!
Bought a Q phone this fall and now am able to use a phone. All the wired one were of no use.
