how do you know when a press release is significant:
before you even read the damn thing, always page down to the very end to see the list of companies mentioned and cross referenced in the press release. if ONT is the only one listed, then you might as well go back to sleep. if other companies are mentioned that have a stock symbol, then you have to evaluate how shareholders of those other companies might react to this news; will it inspire them to buy ONT or not. if not, it's a none event, if so, then you should see a few hundred thousend more shares traded that day. my theory begs the obvious question. why doesn't ONT pepper it's press releases with more mentions of other publically traded companies? the obvious answer is; it will once the site is launched on the 02/18. how do I know this? well, consider the following; have you ever seen a DOT.COM commercial on Television that prompted you to, soon afterward, visit the site with your browser? now remember how sometimes you'd go to the site, and it was either still under construction, or in some other way not fully functional? well, be honest now... did you revisit that site weeks later in hopes they finally got their act together? I thought not... you forgot/lost that URL long ago. the point is that ONT would be foolish to attract any potential new shareholders with their press releases until the store is open and ready for business. true some will be put off by needing a broadband connection to enjoy the fruits of ONT's labor, but ONT can't be blamed for that, they are a Broadband only company! |
