INFOWAVE ANNOUNCES EUROPEAN EDITION OF ITS WIRELESS COMPUTING PRODUCTS AT GSM WORLD CONGRESS

GSM support to be added to Enterprise products; Symmetry(tm) for GSM carriers made available; WAP product demonstrated at Phone.com pavilion

Cannes, France, February 2, 2000 - Infowave Software, Inc. (TSE:IW) today introduced the European edition of its suite of wireless computing products at the GSM World Congress in Cannes, France. Infowave is adding GSM support to its enterprise wireless products, Infowave for Exchange and Infowave for the Net. Also at the GSM World Congress, Infowave is distributing copies of its Symmetry desktop software to GSM carriers and is demonstrating its enterprise WAP product over GSM in the Phone.com (Nasdaq:PHCM) pavilion.

GSM is the de facto wireless standard in Europe and has over 250 million users worldwide in 120 countries.

"GSM has quickly become the dominant wireless network standard outside of North America," says Jim McIntosh, president and CEO of Infowave. "With this latest initiative, we are able to greatly expand the potential market for our products into the important European and Asian marketplaces. GSM and WAP support reaffirms Infowave's commitment to remain network and device
agnostic and to let our customers choose the network and devices that best serves their needs."

A special edition of Infowave's Symmetry software for GSM carriers is being distributed at the show. Symmetry is PC software that works with Microsoft© Outlook© to send email, calendar, meeting reminders, and task lists to a
wireless device. Symmetry works with pagers, PCS/GSM phones, hand-held computers, or any other wireless e-mail device. With two-way devices, users can also initiate or reply to emails and query their Microsoft Outlook information.

Also at the show, Infowave's Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) support is being demonstrated at the Phone.com pavilion (C36) over a GSM network.
Infowave's WAP product allows users to access their Microsoft© Exchange© messaging and collaboration server from any wireless device with a WAP or HDML browser. Mobile users can access their Microsoft Exchange email, contacts, calendar and tasks lists from virtually anywhere using their
digital phone or the new generation of Internet-ready wireless devices.

Infowave's software provides fast wireless access to email, the Internet, corporate Intranets and web-based applications for mobile workers who need real-time access to important desktop information, whether they're across the hall or across the country. Infowave's customers can choose from a spectrum of mobile devices including phones, pagers, handheld computers and laptops. Infowave's software sends the right information to the right device at the right time.
