All,

I did another Fry's Electronics check last night. No new news on the mobo front (still just 2, and no VC820's in stock). I did manage to get one of the salespeople to do a price check for me on RIMMS. The bad news was that they weren't quite sure how to do it. The good news was that, once they figured out how to get it up on the computer, I was pleased to see that Fry's has both Dell and Kingston beat on price.

For PC800 128M RIMM with ECC, Dell charges $1180 (based on the price to add an extra 128M) and Kingston charges $1108. Fry's charges $999, a savings of almost $100 to $200. The prices for various configurations were:

PC800 128M w/ ECC: $999
PC600 128M w/ ECC: $899
PC800 64M w/ ECC: $599
PC600 64M w/ ECC: $499

I doubt they're selling many of the 64M modules.

Dave
