David,

The tender was won by a consortium lead by Marpless....who is 51% owned by a Japanese trading company.

Unisys is the systems integrator....and NEC is the AFIS and equipment supplier....so says the tender award.

Since this is a 60 million member data base......I would think that it would be the NEC pre-sorting AFIS.....A configuration of the LS series. It would have to be.

The cool part of this AFIS....is that the entry is "pre-sorted"......so that the entire data base is not searched....but only a subset. This makes the search much faster. Enrollments are pre-sorted and assigned a subset within the data base.

IDX has been the supplier of NEC LS series 10 printers.

I guess the question would be whether or not Hanis enrollment is a 10 printer application.....and whether or not IDX is still the subcontractor for NEC on these LS machines.

I would think it would be a 10 printer deal.

We have been following this project for over two years......and seeing Unisys and NEC in the winner's circle has really made us hopeful.......as IDT did Spain with Unisys.....and we have been working with NEC for several years now also.

David would know....David.....Are we still on the NEC team for 10 printers?....and is this a 10 printer application?

bg

ps. I think IDX is reacting to Printrak's win in California today......I'm not so sure there would not be some business for IDX in that project......I believe we did LA County with EDS......and the Printrak announcement refers to the afis. IDX could have a piece of the input devices.
