Tony -
Sun servers do not have a great record for overall availability. One study of UE10000 showed availability of only 94.5% which is terrible but I think that study was flawed. Other studies show availability of 98.5%... OK but not great.

I don't know what dreamer thinks there are more than a handful of Sun systems doing better than 99.9% - that takes very careful configuration control and only a few customers can justify the additional cost to get to that availability. Likewise, DG, HWP, CPQ, IBM and others have offered 99.9% availability guarantees on SOME configurations for years - but you have to read the fine print to see what is required.

Tandem of course sets the bar in that category with availability of 99.999 or even 99.9999 in some settings.
