Thanks Paul. Now you know why all the local gold mines, and many other SAf companies for that matter, will not seriously invest here and prefer to do so elsewhere. Sure, things could have been worse --- a lot worse --- but this government has got to get its act together --- and there isn't much time left to do it. I do think they are trying, but the damage to the country of the past six years, while world leaders were fawning Mandela, has been more than anyone would care to mention. The biggest problems are still violent crime, corruption and administrative failure all largely caused by the expectation of the "free-lunch" and a manifest lack of responsibility.

Meanwhile, the trade union movement, COSATU, has announced a series of nation-wide strikes for March.
