Twin Gold's TORNGAT diamonds keep their promise
TORONTO, Feb. 2 /CNW/ - Twin Gold Corporation ("Twin Gold") (TSE:TWG) is pleased to announce the diamond analysis results of sample AD 2 from dyke TORNGAT 1.
The sample analysis, including the microdiamond extraction, selection and description was performed by the Mineralogical Services of Lakefield Research Limited and yielded the following results:
--------------------------------------------------------- Sample ID Weight (kg) Number of Diamonds --------------------------------------------------------- AD 2 30.3 59 ---------------------------------------------------------
The 30.3 kg kimberlite sample represents the coarse grained bulk of the dyke. Of the 59 diamonds, 11 are macro diamonds with two (2) exceeding one (1)mm in one dimension. All are white with the exception of 2 which are grey. Of the 59 diamonds, all are transparent with the exception of seven (7) which are translucent. This sample is outstanding for its high quality stones. More than half of them have preservation rates of +75 %.
Another test sample of 298.5 kg of the fine grained and low grade narrow layer of kimberlite, attached to the dyke walls, has produced 24 diamonds of which four (4) are macro diamonds. To date, the kimberlite samples from TORNGAT dykes 1, 2 & 3 and TORNGAT South, have produced 475 diamonds of which 80 are macro diamonds. Most of thediamonds are of high quality, and are white and transparent. Twin Gold is also pleased to announce that it has successfully completed the high resolution airborne magnetometer, gradiometer and very low frequency survey of their 100% owned 444 sq. km TORNGAT diamond property. Preliminary indications of the approximately 5,000 km, flown at 100 m line spacing, are very encouraging. The winter exploration program is on schedule with data processing of large amount of information, gathered by latest technology equipment, progressing well. The examination of unprocessed flight line profiles indicates that known kimberlite dykes are readily detected and that other anomalies, not previously examined in the field, are present. Twin Gold, in addition to exploring the diamond prospect on the east side of the Ungava Bay in Northern Quebec is also an emerging producer of a low cost gold mining project of 1 million ounces of gold and 3.2 million ounces of silver reserves in Idaho, U.S.A. |
