Bill, this what the exit polls report:

Exit polls also found that McCain won not only among New Hampshire's many independents but also among registered Republicans. His military experience and call for campaign finance reform resonated. Sixty-three percent of Republican voters said McCain says what he really believes, not just what people want to hear. Just 31 percent said the same of Bush.
