Good points, Tony. All the more reason to explain why IBM is using price more aggressively. According to MR, it's Cisco for IP, Oracle for databases, Sun for servers and EMC for storage. MR replaced HWP with Sun after HWP dumped EMC for Hitachi, a close number 2 to IBM in the IBM-compatible mainframe market and the first vendor to have a 12,000 rpm disk drive in the market. Seagate, EMC's primary disk drive supplier, continues to have the most mature 10,000 rpm and fibre channel disk drives in the market with what some people would say is a more stable technology roadmap so Hitachi's placeholder 12,000 rpm product is not all that impressive. I still wonder why HWP dumped EMC for Hitachi.

P.S. Have you been following the way IBM and Microsoft have been trying to keep Sun from turning Java into some kinda proprietary thing especially now that it has become so popular? The developer community seem to be aligning with IBM and Microsoft on this one.
