Thanks Hal good post and reference. If memory serves me correctly I heard about JDSU's patents from a speech/presentation KK made. It may have been the slide show presentation he gave awhile back. I no longer have the link for that. KK was making the point about the barriers to entry that JDSU's competitors have. Again.. from memory... barriers included patents, expertise (limited number of scientist in this area and JDSU claimed to have most of them on staff) and testing/certification time required before products would be accepted by customers. Testing/cert was roughly equivalent to something like 100 man years if I remember correctly. I normally keep a complete record of every key article/link I find but my computer 'ate' my old JDSU note file... :-( Perhaps tekboy or someone else who follows JDSU can fill in the gaps for us.
