Jan C. - Are you using options software such as OptionStation? I haven't been doing much with options recently and want to refine my methods - been evaluating various options analysis software. Omega Research's OptionStation is expensive but nothing else I have seen is comparable. Some beta software (free is a good price) gives me all the basic such as implied volatility, greeks, break even and the simple spread strategies but it doesn't go out into the options data universe to screen for your criteria. I wish that either OptionStation would price for the masses or someone would come out with a truly competitive package.

I think your strategy of buying puts as this thing spikes makes sense. I may do the same.
