Assuming that we get into a bear market (and nobody knows for sure if we will or we won't), what criteria do you have in mind that will make you get back in to the market? In terms of quantifiable numbers like P/E ratios, dividend yields etc. (like the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 7 and dividend yield of 6% at the bottom of the 73-74 bear, for instance). Also in terms of more informal numbers like the number of investment clubs and even more informal sentiment indicators like what the cabbies say (like, the "Buy Polaroid and keep it man! It will keep on going higher" of 1972 vs. "Wall Street? They still selling that crap?" of 1978 ;-) ).
