Unlimited upside:

From Scientific Atlanta's last quarterly report:

"The company shipped approximately 245,000
Explorer(R) 2000 digital interactive set-tops during the quarter as compared to
approximately 57,000 in the prior year. Sales of transmission products also
increased significantly with strong growth across all product areas. As
anticipated and previously announced, sales of analog set-tops continued to
decline as cable operators shift from analog to digital products."

They are selling almost a quarter of a million digital set-top
boxes per quarter - who is one of the suppliers to Scientific
Atlanta for set-tops? ST Micro.

ST Micro. will be using 8x8 technology to "VoIP-enable" cable
and DSL set-tops, so there will be a "residential gateway"
for phone/fax traffic through the cable/DSL network. Realistically,
this could also extend beyond cable/DSL to other transport
mechanisms like satellite or wireless.

Imagine a situation in the not too distant future where
Scientific Atlanta and other providers of set-top boxes
are selling with 8x8 components (via ST Micro. or other
channels) with per unit royalities or licensing back
to 8x8. This is part of "unlimited upside" PV has
talked about.

Scientific Atlanta is just ramping up the transition to
digital from analog cable boxes, the extended services like
VoIP are not that far behind and the resulting $$ to 8x8
not that far away.

This is just one, of many, applications of 8x8's technology.
