Our local NBC TV affiliate in Sacramento just ran a story that The Money Store, a subsidiary of FTU, charges prospective employers, via a 900 number, to verify a past employee's employment at The Money Store. The charge is stated via a recording when the 900 number is answered and this charge is $2.95 per minute.

Seems this would likely rule out smaller potential employers for ex Money Store employees.

I can't believe that this practice can be good for the public image of FTU.

Anyone reading this thread have any strong feelings one way or another?
