Does "marketable securities" exclude investments in the form of stocks? If not, what types of
securities are considered "marketable"?

Randy,

Marketable securities do include stocks but should only be stock that are not restricted. The positions Amazon has recently taken in some firms are restricted shares and are under lockup so they are not marketable securities.

Marketable securities typically are in the form of bonds either government or corporate.
