Remember this: Intel is the gorilla!!!

Gorillas flatten Monkeys when the get too big for their britches. This should be obvious to everyone on this site, but the current emotion of being temporarily ahead in chip speed is causing WAY too much speculation on the death of Intel.

When this will happen I do not know. That it will happen, seems pretty certain.

Why it will happen will either be because Intel catches up on speed, or AMD screws up on memory speed. Bash Rambus RMBS if you like, but what would happen if Intel were to buy Rambus tomorrow and declare RDRAM the one and only standard.

If AMD is fully geared towards RDRAM then the above is not a problem, but mark my words, RDRAM WILL come down in price, and at a lower price IS superior to SDRAM, DDRAM, and most certainly to DDRAM-II which is years away (and will never make it to market).

There was a message earlier about planning an exit strategy. I believe it was wise!
