Nokia and Blu Sign Contract for the Supply of Italy's New Mobile Network
  HELSINKI, Finland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 3, 2000--Nokia and Italy's new GSM mobile operator, Blu, have signed a turn-key contract for the supply and rollout of network solutions for their GSM1800 network. 
  The contract, valued at approximately EUR 180 million (350 million lire), marks a new GSM customer for Nokia,further strengthening its position in Italy. 
  Nokia will provide Blu with its national radio access network infrastructure, which includes Nokia's high capacity Metrosite solution, including base stations, high capacity base station controllers and cellular transmission equipment. The Nokia Network Management System will also be provided bringing complete network management capabilities to the network. 
  The turnkey deal comprises a comprehensive range of Professional Services, including Radio and Transmission Network Planning and Optimisation, Site Acquistion, Project Management, Construction Works, Telecom Implementation, Software Maintenance, Emergency Service and Network Operations Support. 
  It is expected that Italy's new GSM operator will have the network operational in some of Italy's major cities by spring this year.
