Here's an interesting message about site hits sent to me by a kind lurker:

...NO ONE talks in the number of hits they receive. Everyone in the industry knows it is a meaningless number.

When a web page loads a single graphic, it is a hit. According to my count, there are 53 images loaded on Hits Galore's home page.

When a web page loads itself, it is a hit. Whenever a cgi script is called, it is a hit. When a java application loads, it is a hit.

So it is conceivable that they are indeed getting 4 million hits a day. What investors don't know is that the company is...using numbers that no one in the industry relies on, for the very reason that it gives an inflated picture of what is really taking place.

Which numbers ARE important? UNIQUE VISITORS....
