"I guess we need some expertise that we can't seem to dig up"

My thoughts exactly DS. I, like you, was going through these same king vs. gorilla questions back in oct/november concerning jdsu. I posted and asked lots of questions on other boards (i didn't belong to SI then) but got no responses back. I finally gave up and just decided I was holding - at very least - a king with huge barriers to entry. If I found out jdsu was a gorilla my investment would increase slightly (it's already at 35%+) and I would stop actively trading it so much (i.e. that holding lightly business :-).

If I, you, or anybody(!) finds out anything more about JDSU please post!

In that vein I will post a rumor (please handle this as such!) that JDSU's phase IV they will attack (they've already reached their first 3 goals and will not elaborate on the 4th) is optical switching. 'Rumor' also has it that key components and the final assembly of the optical switching device LU introduced a few months back is actually created by jdsu but contractual agreements with LU mean that JDSU cannot say a word about it right now.

Source of the rumor was a supposedly a poster on the raging bull thread months ago that said he worked for jdsu and provided details of the optical switching device (he supposedly worked in the area). He also provided enough details about where he worked and other employee details to 'prove' he was a jdsu employee (other jdsu employees on the thread confirmed that he was an employee). He was upset that JDSU's team of engineers were getting no credit for their break throughs while LU was claiming credit. He stopped posting shortly there after (gee i wonder why..).

Before this time (and after) there was discussion on other threads about JDSU's rumored Phase IV and the consensus was that it would have to be something connected to optical switching. Now this is ALL RUMOR! But if anything breaks on this front we might finally have something concerning gorilla status/ proprietary technology. I repeat though - this is ONLY A RUMOR! Just something to tuck away and look for other, more substantial forms of confirmation for sure.
