I short stocks too..

so I'm not totally against it. I get a kick out of how many of these guys try to time a stock that has too much momentum or think that just because the numbers say something, the stock will follow. Then they go after the big large companies that get daily attention?

A guy wrote in Barron's about 3 weeks ago that ETEK was a great short. Not 5-10 days later the stock doubled and was bought out.

Looks like Babb's timing wasn't terrible on some of those picks. The overall return probably wasn't very high, assuming he was smart enough to take the little profit he could on most. There were a few excellent shorts in that group.

I couldn't find his favorite pick of the year - no symbol, either history or bought out?
