JDSU Omnibus
Preface
<<Go back to the raging bull thread on jdsu about that time for discussion on this matter.>>
Hi mtnlady! Does this represent a change in your thinking on such issues in general, or does it mean that you consider Raging Bull more worthwhile than G&K? <giggle> Just kidding... :0)
JDSU's Classification and Barriers to Entry
Determining JDSU's proper GG classification is obviously crucial for potential investors, yet it is also difficult, since to make an accurate call one must know both JDSU and the Gorilla Game backwards and forwards. Of those few people who do, almost all consider it a King, albeit a strong and somewhat hairy one. I put the question to the wisest heads on the Motley Fool JDSU board (which used to be the best discussion place for JDSU, before it got swamped by lesser lights late in 1999), and here is what they said:

Moral
There's lots of really good stuff in the archives, and one of the great virtues of cyberspace (at least in this instance) is that the garbage isn't taken out regularly. Yes, it seems like a lot of posts; yes, there's a lot of chatter; but nevertheless, any serious or aspiring G&K investors could do far worse with their spare time than flip through a lot of the back posts on the thread. For the full experience, begin at the beginning. For the discovery of our favorite baby gorilla, start at 833.
I actually think reading the archives was even more valuable than my initial real-time lurking, because I was able to evaluate the quality of what I was reading with the benefits of hindsight--and thus became a believer far more quickly than I would have otherwise.
