The program was already written and it was quite easy to add a module to parse DATEK quotes. In my case I watch about 5 stocks which I actively trade. I wrote code to parse DATEK quotes to save me the hassle of hitting the "get quote" button every minute or so for these five stocks. For stocks that I don't need real-time quotes for I use another server such as CNNFN. The reason I wrote the program was not because I'm a cheapskate- I made the program freeware for home users. I wrote it because I'm a computer programmer by trade and wanted to get some experience with HTTP, at the same time producing something that others might want to use. The DATEK module was just an afterthought. I have not made the program public because I have not received DATEK's blessing (still waiting to hear from them, it's been 2 weeks now). For now I just use it for my own trading purposes. Webb, I suggest you get your facts straight before you post.
