Pretty clear to me that Intel is having trouble ramping 'ole Betsy (P6) to such high speeds. Intel is praying to get to the Willamette. It appears they will do and say just about anything to keep the customers believing there is something great just around the corner. They announce chip speeds with only a handful of chips on hand. They accelerate future speed grades in their roadmap with the promise the next stepping is on the way, knowing they will be lucky to deliver. They plan to show a Willamette running at over 1 GHz at a show, hoping to freeze the markets into waiting for this "super duper" chip, all the while just hoping they will get to it before the end of the year. They keep a straight face while telling you the Coppermine runs great in an i810e motherboard... Really wild... Jim
