MM, Mohan, Haim:

A couple of days ago, Soros suggested that the European central banks could and should strengthen the Euro by selling U.S. bonds. He was of course accurate, but Europe has plenty of reasons to be just as happy if the Euro does not become strong (which would crush the dollar, and cream the ability of U.S. consumers to borrow and buy all those nice Mercedes). I find Soros' timing very interesting, particularly with what has happened over the last two days. Was he one of the boys who were short the U.S. long bond?

Best, Earlie
