Jim RE:"Is Intel expecting a war and building a strategic reserve or do they just have yield problems like AMD had in the past?"...

Pretty clear to me that Intel is having trouble ramping 'ole Betsy (P6) to such high speeds. Intel is praying to get to the Willamette.>>>

Jim it may not be binsplits or yields just like PB is saying. It could simply be that in order to use notched gates Intel had to add several steps to process which is slowing output down. Otherwise why when going to .18 um from .25 um Intel hasn't been able to increase production.
It takes a long time to drill all them notches even with a Black and Decker Cordless drill in each hand.

I can't believe Scrumbia is thinking of checking out when it is likely AMD will have to announce record profits for q1-00 sometime in Feb. or early Mar. AMD's plan to lower prices of high mhz chips to create demand seems to be working like a charm as there is a worldwide shortage of P3s. If AMD can sell 2.5 to 3 mu athlon chips this quarter I think we will see .80 to $1.00 eps. easy. Just my wag.
