Tallan Celebrates RosettaNet eConcert Day by Providing Solutions For Ingram Micro

GLASTONBURY, Conn., Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Tallan, Inc., a consulting and systems development firm, celebrated its participation in yesterday's RosettaNet eConcert Day by announcing its work in implementing RosettaNet standards and solutions for Ingram Micro, Inc.'s eCommerce architecture. In addition, Tallan worked with Ingram Micro on the first production of the RosettaNet Partner Interface Process (PIP) between Ingram Micro, the world's largest wholesale provider of technology products and services, and CompUSA, America's Largest Computer Superstore.

This PIP, or e-business interaction, marks one of the first milestones towards implementing a completely standardized business to business architecture that allows companies in the information technology and electronic components industry to communicate and conduct business via the Internet. The PIP deployment between Ingram and CompUSA will allow each partner to exchange communication electronically about product price and availability.

Yesterday's RosettaNet eConcert Readiness Day is the result of an effort initiated in June 1999 to implement PIPs with actual production systems for a number of companies involved in standardizing B2B architecture.

''It takes time for every company to coordinate and agree upon the message dialogue between different trading partners,'' said Bryan Kim, Tallan's RosettaNet Champion. ''Many of the leading partners using the RosettaNet standards have slightly different order management processes, and integration between them is the key to creating a coherent RosettaNet standard. At Ingram Micro, Tallan is creating technical solutions as well as managing Ingram's needs within the RosettaNet supply-chain.''

Tallan's work with Ingram is part of the overall RosettaNet effort to encourage other solutions providers to adhere to one unifying standard. Achieving these standards is an evolutionary process and RosettaNet has undergone a number of architectural changes: starting from an EDI/XML framework, the RosettaNet Implementation Framework (RNIF) has been thoroughly re-architected to pure XML. Many of the changes centered around offering a more flexible means of message validation and a richer transactional context.
