I've upgraded two machines with FIC VA503+ motherboard when I wasn't ready to change RAM yet. Has 2 DIMM slots for when you do upgrade, and 4 SIMM slots (My machines had 48mb EDO RAM = 2 x 16mb + 2 x 8mb).

I've got a K6-2/266 in one and a K6-2/400 in the other. Board and CPU cost about $100 and $130 respectively, and CPUs have gotten cheaper.

These are AT (not ATX) motherboards, so they're great for upgrading old machines
