I found a real audio clip from Hartford TV station WFSB from a broadcast they did on 4/19/99. It's a good example of how the local media has handled the case. Note the sensational storyline about "new evidence" being found that "police say may be significant to the case." Evidence that was found "100 feet from where one of the suspects lives: Yale lecturer..."

Did the police find the murder weapon? A bloody glove? No, they found Jim's drivers manual lodged in a bush which had been tossed there a month prior to the murder by someone who had broken into his car-- an event friends he told were able to verify did happen.

On the one hand, this episode is astounding. On the other, it's par for the course. Here we see how a) the police call something evidence before they know what the hell they even have, b) the news sensationalizes the event but, of course, doesn't consider the fact it's not evidence newsworthy the next day, and c) it's not the police who reveal the "new" evidence is nothing more than a weather-beaten drivers manual, it's one of the treasure hunters.

At the very least maybe the moving picture will help people visualize the area better.
