Marcus Robinson has signed a new four-year deal.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (Feb. 3, 2000) Emerging star Marcus Robinson, who ranked second in the NFC in receiving yards and fifth in catches in 1999, signed a four-year contract with the Chicago Bears.

In just his second NFL season, Robinson flourished under offensive coordinator Gary Crowton's system and became the Bears' primary receiver ahead of Bobby Engram and Curtis Conway, totaling 84 receptions for 1,400 yards and nine touchdowns.

He finished just 13 yards behind Minnesota's Randy Moss for the NFC lead and 12 catches behind Carolina's Muhsin Muhammad for the conference high.

The NFL Europe League MVP in 1998, Robinson led the Bears in receiving yards each week from Oct. 10-Nov. 25 and 11 times overall. He had career highs with 11 catches for 170 yards and three touchdowns on Dec. 19 in a 28-10 win over Detroit.

The 6-foot-3 Robinson had five 100-yard receiving games, recording at least 136 on each occasion. He went for 163 on Nov. 21 in a 23-20 overtime win over San Diego.

A fourth-round pick out of South Carolina, Robinson missed his entire rookie season in 1997 with a thumb injury and had just four catches in 1998. He helped Rhein to the NFL Europe title that spring, leading the league with 811 yards receiving.
