The article you pointed to is for a 4 fold increase. ciena can do 16 now, and they are shipping. The question was, "how close is Lucent to producing a marketable device for a 206 fold increase in fiber capacity?" I suspect that the femtosecond laser may be one of the obstacles. I heard COHR isn't in this business today. Norm
